The Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) lecturer assaulted by a female student has broken his silence as he narrated his side of the story.
Following the incident which occured yesterday and captured in a now viral video, the lecturer identified as Dr. Chukwudi Okoye from the Department of Theatre and Film studies, recounted how he clashed with the students along his faculty’s corridor.
Okoye, in an Instagram post on Wednesday, claimed to have never met the student before the incident.
“I was leaving the classroom to my office when I saw the lady along the corridor of the faculty of Arts.
“She was making a TikTok video and I needed to pass because of the way the corridor was. So I just tapped and said excuse me and walked off.
“When she made that insulting comment, I turned back to first ascertain if she was my student in the department. Then I needed her- because I noticed it was a TikTok video. I needed her to delete it.
“I actually asked her to delete it right in front of me.
“When she refused, I stretched my hand to confiscate the phone because I know that will make her now say she is from so and so department because I had no knowledge of who she was. And that was where all hell let loose.” The lecturer said.
On if he will take any action against the student, he said that he leaves the case to the hand of the disciplinary committee.
“Any other action whatever, I leave that to the to the committee to sort out” Dr. Okoye added.
NPO earlier reported that his sister also gave similar account during a live Instagram session with social media influencer, Daddy Freeze.
