The All Progressive Congress in Kogi State on Tuesday called on security agencies to be fair in their handling of the security situation in the state ahead of the November 11 governorship election.
Kingsley Fanwo, spokesman of the Campaign council of the party said in a statement made available to the NPO Reports that there are fears of possible intimidations during the forthcoming election.
“We express deep concerns regarding the needless raid on the residences of some of our chieftains in Kogi East.
“We hold the hope that they are not specifically targeted ahead of the election,” The statement said
He added that the campaign council would want to welcome every effort at ensuring a peaceful poll on November 11, 2023.
He added, The election is for the electorate to determine who leads the state from January 27, 2024 and therefore shouldn’t be a reason for insecurity in the state.
“We hereby call on security agencies to act professionally, fairly and with the patriotic intent to maintain law and order before, during and after the election.”
Kogi is one of the three states where elections are expected to hold next Saturday in an off-season election to be conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
There have been accusations and counterclaims over security situation in the state since the campaigns officially started.
