The Kogi state government has denied alleged ethnic bias in civil service recruitment.
This is coming under the heels of a viral voice note by a female civil servant who raised concerns over the alleged exclusion of Ebira youths from employment opportunities within the state civil service.
Reacting in a statement issued on Saturday by the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, the state government refuted the allegation and urged calm.
Fanwo said Governor Ahmed Ododo’s administration remained committed to inclusivity, active listening, and responsive governance.
While acknowledging the civil servant’s right to express her views, he said some individuals had sought to sensationalise the issue.
He urged citizens to remain calm and disregard misinformation surrounding the matter.
“Governor Ododo has sworn to serve the state without bias. Civil service employment will be based on competence, capacity, and resource availability.
“This will ensure fair representation across the state,” Fanwo added.
According to him, the administration remains committed to transparency, public enlightenment, and citizen engagement in clarifying policies and decisions.
Fanwo assured that the government had directed protection for the concerned civil servant and strengthened internal feedback mechanisms to address grievances promptly.
