The Labour Party has ruled out talks of joining any coalition ahead of the 2027 General election.
This was made known in a communique issued on Friday following the conclusion of the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting.
As part of the resolution made in the meeting, the party declared that it will not be part of any coalition ahead of the election.
The party held that it will rather continue to drive its programmes and policies and win more members ahead of the election.

“NEC declared that the Party is not and will not be part of any coalition towards the 2027 General Election.
“The Party will rather continue to rebuild, reposition, re-strategize, reconcile, strengthen, drive its programs and policies, win more members towards winning the 2027 General Elections.” Labour Party said.
The opposition party further congratulated it’s candidate for the 2025 Anambra Governorship Election, Chris Moghalu.
However, Labour Party set up a 5-man disciplinary committee to probe alleged involvement of Imo State governor, Alex Otti, in anti-party activities.
“NEC congratulates Chief George Moghalu who emerged winner and the Party’s candidate for the 2025 Anambra State Governorship Election at the Governorship primaries held in Awka on 05/04/2025.
“NEC rallies all members and Ndi Anambra to support Chief George Moghalu for the 08/11/25 Anambra State Governorship Election election for a greater Anambra State.
“NEC reviewed the anti party activities of Dr. Alex Otti, the Abia State Governor and other erring members and consequently sets up a disciplinary committee as follows: Dr. Ayo Olorunfemi- Chairman, Alhaji Umar Farouk Ibrahim- Secretary, Barr. Kehinde Edun- Member, Mrs. Dudu Manuga- Member, Barr. Callistus Ihejiagwa- Member.
“The committee is given two weeks to submit its report.” The communique read.
On the conduct of the NEC Meeting, Labour Party maintained that it was held in accordance to the 2022 Electoral Act, the party’s constitution, and the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) Regulations and Guidelines for political parties.
The party reiterated its support for the Julius Abure-led National Working Committee (NWC) as re-elected by the members of the party.
It expressed its commitment to continue to seek peace and reconciliation within the ranks of the party.
Labour Party also seek reconciliation with all aggrieved members of the party, urging them to sheath their swords in the overall interest of the party and Nigeria.
