Says His Vision for Anambra Will be A Mirage Under LP
- Safiu Kehinde
Labour Party’s Anambra State governorship candidate, Valentine Ozigbo, has announced his resignation and withdrawal of membership from the party.
Ozigbo cited the ongoing leadership crisis as reason behind his quit.
He disclosed this in a post on his official X handle on Thursday.
Ozigbo maintained that the crisis in the party has weakened its effectiveness and can render his vision for Anambra state into a mirage.
“After deep reflection and broad consultations, I withdrew my membership from the Labour Party yesterday.
“Recent developments within LP – mainly the ongoing leadership crisis – weakened its effectiveness, making it clear that my vision for a better and brighter Anambra must take a different path.
“As I remain committed to the pursuit of good governance and the progress of Ndi Anambra,
“For the records, I have shared my full resignation letters here.
“Thank you, and God bless everyone.” He wrote.
Attached to the post were his resignation letters dated 19th February, 2025.
Both letters issued were separately issued to his Ward Chairman, Joseph Agwu, and the other to the party’s National Chairman, Julius Abure.
Following his withdrawal from the Labour Party, the governorship aspirant had joined the All Progressive Congress (APC), adding to the tally of politicians who have dumped Labour Party for the ruling party.
In a statement, issued by his campaign team, VCO Campaign Organisation, Ozigbo joined the APC on Thursday at his ward in Amesi, Aguata Local Government Area, following a visit to his home by the party members.
“The Valentine Ozigbo Campaign Organisation wishes to officially announce that Valentine Ozigbo, a distinguished business leader, philanthropist, and visionary politician, has joined the All Progressives Congress (APC), Africa’s biggest political party,
“This historic decision was formalised today, Thursday, February 20, 2025, when Mr Ozigbo completed his registration as a member of the APC at his ward in Amesi, Aguata Local Government Area, Anambra State.” The statement partly read.
