Operatives of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC), have on Tuesday morning apprehended a 30-year-old woman, identified simply as Sarah, for illegally dumping refuse on the median at Iyana-Oba.
This was contained in an X post by the State’s Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, on Wednesday.
He described the act as a “reckless violation” that directly undermines ongoing efforts by the state government to maintain a clean and flood-free Lagos.
“This morning, operatives of @LAGESCOfficial arrested 30-year-old Sarah for illegally dumping refuse on the median at Iyanaba.
“This reckless act undermines our efforts to maintain a clean and flood-free Lagos.
“Let this serve as a clear warning: dumping waste on road medians or public spaces is a punishable offense.
“Offenders will face immediate arrest and prosecution.”
