Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (LSDVA) has confirmed the arrest of Christ-Mitots school teacher, Stella Nwadigo, who was caught in a viral video assaulting a 3-year-old pupil.
This was contained in a statement issued on the agency’s official X handle on Wednesday.
Expressing their gratitude to those who called their attention to the incident, LSDVA disclosed that investigation has commenced following the teacher’s arrest.
The agency expressed that institutions of learning should be safe, warm, and protective environments for all children in their care.
It reiterated the state government’s commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of every child.
The statement partly read; “We appreciate everyone who brought the disturbing incident of a teacher who was recorded physically abusing a 3-year-old boy to our attention.
“We are pleased to inform the public that the teacher in question has been arrested by Owutu FSU, and an investigation has commenced in earnest.
“Indeed, institutions of learning should be safe, warm, and protective environments for all children in their care.
“The State Government remains committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of every child by enforcing strict regulations, holding offenders accountable, and working with stakeholders to promote a zero-tolerance policy for abuse in any form.

NPO reported the disturbing incident which was captured in a video shared on X.
As seen in the video, Nwadigo had aggressively slapped the 3-year-old boy over his inability to properly write some numerical figures.
This had sparked outrage amongst netizens who called for her arrest with popular Nigerian Human Rights activist, Just Adetoun, demanding for the closure of the school.
The activist would storm the Police station where the teacher was detained.
