Lagos State House of Assembly has beefed up security details around the legislature’s premises in anticipation for the return of impeached Speaker, Mudashiru Obasa.
The lawmakers had on the 13th of January voted out Obasa and immediately replaced him with his deputy, Mojisola Meranda.
However, Obasa had objected his impeachment following his controversial return to the Speaker’s official residential apartment where he was received by his supporters during the weekend.
The ousted Speaker affirmed that he remains the legitimate Speaker of the House as he vowed to reclaim his position.
Prior to his return, some of his loyalist from Agege Constituency had stormed the House to protest his impeachment.
They were, however, arrested by security personnel and detained in a waiting van.
NPO Reports observed the heavy security presence of as the House resumes plenary today.
