President Bola Tinubu has issued a note of warning to land developers against building on Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway setbacks.
Tinubu gave the warning during his address at the inauguration of the 30km phase one section of the project in Lagos.
The President warned that development without approval will not be compensated as he vowed strict enforcement of the setback.
“Let me at this stage warn all developers, the Federal Government will enforce the setback. If not for anything, it is for the interest of our dear nation.
“Development without approval will not be compensated.
“We have gazetted and published the setback. We are going to enforce it rigidily in every way possible.” He said.
While commending Lagosians for supporting the project, Tinubu acknowledged the economic hardship facing the country.
He however urged Nigerians to remain hopeful while reiterating that the economy is recovering.
“I thank people.of Lagos for supporting this project that will positively affect the lives of our people.
“I know that at this stage, the expectation is still very high and that Nigerian people are still going through difficult times.
“I take this opportunity to appeal to all Nigerians that the hope is here and is realizable. That you will be part of the benefits.
“The economy is recovering. There is light at the end of the tunnel now.” Tinubu said.
The President highlighted changes in the economy, stressing that the country’s inflation rate is gradually dropping with exchange rate also stabilised.
He also claimed drastic reduction in corruption on account of fuel subsidy removal while noting developments in the health sector.
“Inflation is stepping down. The exchange rate is stabilised. The corruption in exchange rate is eliminated.
“The corruption in fuel subsidy is limited to barest minimum. Look at renewable infrastructure going on in various hospitals and several thousands of health centres. It’s all about you. It’s all for you the people.
“We are reducing the cost of manufactured drugs. We are encouraging manufacturing locally.
“We give all incentives for everyone to abide by the principle of Nigeria first.” He added.
