Lagos Govt Shuts Down Landmark, 10 Other Events Centres Over COVID19 Contravention
The Lagos State Government has ordered that event centres contravening instructions over COVID19 across the state be shut down.
Landmark Event centre which held some events on Saturday has been shut.
The order of the state government was carried out by the Lagos State Safety Commission led by Mr. Lanre Mojola.
A statement by the commission explained further "The recalcitrant establishments who broke the government seal and continued partying will be charged to court once documentation has been properly processed.
He affirmed that the State Government is committed to curbing the spread of the virus and would leave no stone unturned to achieve this mandate.
During the earlier monitoring and enforcement drive carried out over the weekend starting December 19, 2020 other facilities such as Cubana Ikeja GRA, The Corner Lekki, 355 Restaurant and Night Club, Victoria Island amongst others were sealed."
Apart from the Landmark Events Centre, others which were closed down include DNA Night Club, Buzz Bar, Silverfox, Cocoon, Westend Nightclub, Rumours, Lekki Waterside, Landmark Event Centre, The Wave Beach club .
The Boss of the safety commission that no event centre or night club would be spared in the clamp down exercise.
