Residents of Lagos Island have on Friday morning trooped out in protest over the death of a Marwa passenger brutalised by a National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) chieftain, identified as Shamsideen Adio, and his gang.
NPO Reported the arrest of the Lagos hoodlum kingpin, popularly known as Shamelon, following the death of the passenger simply identified as Ramon.
According to a post shared on Facebook, the deceased had reportedly attempted plead with Shamsideen on behalf of the Marwa operator who he was assaulting.
Rather than listening to Ramon’s plea, the NURTW chieftain latched on the passenger with video showing moment he whiskered him away from the crowd for further assault.
Unfortunately, Ramon succumbed to the injuries sustained during the assault and was pronounced dead.
While Shamsideen had since been arrested and detained, Lagos Island residents on Friday took to the street in demonstration over the death of Ramon.
A video shared on X showed smoke emanating from a bonfire created by the protesting residents.
Several other videos of Shamsideen’s assault on motorists had also since emerged with one showing moment he beat a dispatch rider to coma.
