Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly Mudasiru Obasa has returned unopposed as the candidate of the All Progressive Congress for the Agege 1 State Constituency in the ongoing primaries of the party.
Obasa, representing the Agege State Constituency 01, contested against another aspirant, Dada Olusegun, at the primary held on Friday at Maternity Centre, Iloro, Agege.
25 delegates voted with five delegates from each of the five wards in Agege Local Government.
Yinka Durosimi, the party’s Electoral Officer, who announced the result, said Obasa secured 25 votes to emerge winner of the election.
Durosimi said five delegates represented the five wards in the local government to make the 25 delegates who voted.
“25 of them were accredited before voting and we ensured that the voting exercise was conducted peacefully.
“Though we had two candidates, Mudashiru Obasa and Dada Olusegun, we only saw one agent representing Obasa. The other aspirant did not show up,” he said.
While responding, Obasa said “I thank the constituents for the trust they have in me, as I am confident that I will win in the main election.
“Through this victory, we can continue with the dividends of democracy we have attracted to Agege.”
In the same vein, the speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly Timothy Owoeye has been elected as the party’s candidate for the Ilesa East State constituency.
It would be Owoeye’s fifth term in the House of Assembly.
He emerged speaker in 2019.
Owoeye, in his message to his constituents, wrote “I wish to let you that I have just won the nomination of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) to once again represent you, the good people of Ilesa East State Constituency in the State House of Assembly.
“My ambition as always is borne of out of contributing my quota to the development of Ijesaland, Osun and our nation at large.”
