The Lagos State Police Command, in a bid to provide a more stable channel of communication between the public and the police, assignments, has introduced a permanent phone number for police divisions, area commands and strategic officers.
This was contained in a statement signed by the police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin on Saturday.
“With the new arrangement, numbers remain permanently attached to particular offices such that with the redeployment of the occupants of such officers, the phone numbers remain the same.” It read in part.
According to him, the strategic move phases out the old era where the personal phone numbers of these strategic officers are used for official communication/assignments, resulting in communication barriers whenever these officers are redeployed.
According to the statement, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Adegoke Fayoade mni, has taken this step to provide improved access, quicker response times and enhanced communication for the good people of Lagos State.
CP Fayoade equally commended the Police Community Relations Committee PCRC), Lagos State Command, under the leadership of Apostle Kehinde Showemimo for magnanimously providing desktop phones to all police divisions within the state for the use of the newly introduced phone lines.
Fayoade further stated that this gesture will go a long way in consolidating the commitment of the Command to engaging with communities and creating a safer environment for everyone in the state.
