Lagos State Ministry of Environment and Water Resources has, on Tuesday, raided Sheraton-Opebi link bridge, evicting illegal squatters residing under the bridge.
This was disclosed by the state’s Commissioner of Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, in a post on his official X handle.
As contained in video clips attached to the post, officials of the Lagos Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) could be seen evacuating the illegal squatters whom Wahab labelled as ‘miscreant’, from the settlement.
“Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources commenced clearance of miscreants and illegal squatters under Sheraton-Opebi link bridge where illegal settlement was discovered.” The Commissioner wrote.
Prior to the raid, Wahab disclosed the demolition of structures built along Aiyetoro-Ishashi Primary Channel yesterday at Ojo area of Lagos in an effort to restore and dredge the drainage system.
