Minister of Works, Babatunde Fashola has alleged that some residents of Lagos State especially those along the Lagos-Badagry highway are carting away part of the sand meant for the construction project saying it is part of their national cake.
Fashola, who was inspecting the project to ascertain the level of works done, said the residents claim that the materials for the road construction belong to Nigeria and as Nigerians, they are entitled to part of the national cake of Nigeria.
“I have been told that some of the residents along the corridor of the project are carting away part of the sands because they think that is part of the national cake.
“They are carting it to their own construction sites to build their own. That is sad.” He said
The minister appealed to users of the road to endure the difficulties being experiences on the route saying that the hardship are part of the inevitable prices to be paid to have the project completed.
