Many roads in Lagos State are still free from traffic two days after the celebration of the New Year as many holiday makers are yet to return.
NPO Reports correspondent who moved round parts of Lagos reports that driving through many of the usually blocked routes provide a completely different experience as the roads are free and with very countable vehicles.
One of the major routes visited include Agidingbi, Ojuelegba, Berger, Maryland and Iyana Ipaja.
Those who spoke with our correspondent said Lagos is a good place to drive around during the holidays as the usual traffic bottlenecks simply disappear.
“I drove from Abule Egba down to Maryland in a matter of 20 minutes! Can you beat that? That is the journey of 3 hours on a ‘normal’ day in Lago,” a resident, Mrs Gloria Dave.
Another resident, Alhaji Kaseem Fagbayibi, said he boarded a bus from Ikorodu and arrived Ikeja under the bridge in 35 minutes.
“That is unusual in Lagos. From Ikorodu to Ojota alone on some days, you would spend 4 hours,”he said
Many wish the experience could continue.
“Sadly, just wait for another three days now. By the time full work resumes especially as from next Monday, you will see the madness on the road,” said an official of the Lagos State Traffic Management Agency (LASTMA) who was sighted at the Omole area of Lagos.
