At least 10 individuals have been arrested by Lagos state task force over illegal disposal waste.
The suspected offenders were apprehended during a 12-hour night raid conducted by the operatives of the Waste Infractions Surveillance and Investigation Team yesterday.
This was disclosed in an X post shared on Tuesday by the state’s commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab.
According to the commissioner, the team attached to the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) had conducted the enforcement operation against illegal waste disposal along Ejigbo and Isheri-Idimu area of the state.
Wahab disclosed that the offenders have been transferred to the Oshodi Task Office for further investigation.
“On March 24, 2025, LAWMA’s Waste Infractions Surveillance and Investigation Team extended its enforcement operations to the Ejigbo and Isheri-Idimu areas of Lagos, conducting a 12-hour exercise aimed at curbing illegal waste disposal practices.
“The operation led to the apprehension of ten individuals found engaging in unlawful dumping activities.
“While some of the offenders cooperated by providing their residential details for proper documentation and legal processing, five individuals were unable to do so.
“These individuals have been transferred to the Oshodi Task Office to enable further investigation and the commencement of appropriate legal proceedings.
“The operation concluded at 9:00 a.m. on March 25, 2025.” Wahab wrote.
