An official of the Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) has landed in deep trouble after allegedly using his personal account to collect revenues.
The official was exposed by an X user on Wednesday in a post calling out the Lagos State Government over what he labelled criminal acts orchestrated by LASAA.
The X user recounted how he was directed to make a payment of N45,000 to a personal account but issued N7,100 receipt.
Attached to the post was the details of the account registered under OPay with the name Olukayode John Adetifa.
Reacting to the development in a post on his X handle, the Lagos Commissioner for Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, confirmed that the official responsible for the act has been identified and invited for disciplinary action.
Wahab reiterated the state government’s zero tolerance with misconduct and unethical practices.
The commissioner expressed his gratitude to the X user who raised the alarm.
“My attention has been drawn to a post alleging improper transaction practices involving a staff member of an agency under our ministry.
“I can confirm that the individual in question has been identified and is indeed on the staff list of the agency.
“I have directed that the officer report to the Head Office tomorrow for immediate disciplinary proceedings.
“Let this be a clear warning to any public servant engaging in unethical practices: we have zero tolerance for misconduct.
“The Lagos State Government remains committed to transparency and accountability at all levels.
“We thank the vigilant citizen who brought this to our attention. Your voice matters in our collective pursuit of good governance.” He wrote.
