A late Wilfred Ndidi’s howler and Kai Havertz’ 98th minute goal stole all three points for Arsenal in 4-2 win against Leicester City at the Emirate Stadium today.
What would have been an impressive performance for Ndidi ended horrifically as the Super Eagles midfielder conceded a 93rd minute own goal to sink Leicester City’s chance of earning a point at the Emirate Stadium following 2-2 draw in regular time.
Prior to the late drama, Gabriel Martinelli put Arsenal into the lead in 20th minute after latching home a cross from Jurrien Timber.
Belgian forward, Leonardo Trossard, doubled lead for Arsenal before the end of first half.
However, Leicester City came back strong in the second half as James Justin pulling one back for the Foxes with a 47th minute header.
Leicester City’s watertight defense kept dominant Arsenal at bay as they search for an equalizer.
James Justin rose the occasion again as he latched home a 63rd minute volley to bring the game to 2-2 with Wilfred Ndidi providing the assist.
Both teams failed to find the back of the net as the 90 minutes regular time ticked off.
Drama would, however, ensue in the 93rd minute after England international, Bukayo Saka, launched a cross into Leicester City’s box.
Unfortunately, Wilfred Ndidi’s effort to clear the ball ended in the back of the net to give Arsenal a 3-2 advantage.
Following Ndidi’s own goal, Leicester City’s desperate search for an equalizer would cost them another goal as Arsenal’s counterattack placed Kai Havertz in a goal scoring position.
The German national put the icing on the cake as his 98th minute goal sealed Arsenal’s 4-2 win against Leicester City.
