The credibility of the recall process of suspended Kogi lawmaker, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has again come under question as video of how signatures were allegedly forged for her recall goes viral.
NPO Reported that the constituents of the Kogi Central Senatorial District yesterday submitted the petition for Natasha’s recall to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The constituents, under the aegis of Concerned Kogi Youths and Women, had claimed to have met all necessary requirements for the recall process, adding that the petition was signed by 250,000 voters out of the 488,000 registered voters across the Senatorial District.
While debunking claims of being bankrolled, Omole Charity, who spoke on behalf of the group, maintained that the constituents’ decision to initiate Natasha’s recall process was borne out of her suspension by the Senate.
She stressed that they cannot afford to be without a representative for six months.
However, the now viral video made available to NPO Reports showed a group of people forging voters signatures in a room.
Recall that the suspended lawmaker has accused the Senate President Godswill Akpabio of sexually harassing her saying this was at the heart of the decision to change her seat at the senate.
The senate had constituted a committee to investigate the lawmaker which recommended her for a period of six months.
Many have however accused the Akpabio led senate of injustice and lack of fair hearing over the matter before Mrs. Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended.
The lawmaker, who insisted she has nothing to apologize for, has taken her case to international fora visiting and presenting her case at the International Parliamentary Union.
she has also granted several interviews to international media outlets giving further details of the alleged harassment.
Already the Independent National Electoral Commission which posted photos of the representatives who submitted the recall petition at its headquarters on Monday has deleted the photos .
