The Afenifere group has urged the Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu to apologise over shooting of protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate area of the state on Tuesday night.
This was contained in a statement by its leader, Chief Reuben Fasoranti, on Thursday in Abuja.
Afenifere also appealed for calm and a halt to destruction.
They demanded to know “who deployed the killers through an international inquiry,” since the governor of Lagos had denied inviting soldiers to Lagos.
Fasoranti said: We demand the arrest and trial of all trigger-happy men who have caused sorrow, tears and blood. We call for the immediate restructuring of Nigeria to avoid imminent collapse.
“We call on the governor of Lagos to show better humanity than the Federal Government by apologising over the killings to partly assuage feelings and show value for human lives.”
Similarly, the Afenifere Renewal Group on Thursday stated that those allegedly hiding under the #EndSARS protests to launch attack on Yoruba heritage would fail.
According to a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Ekiti State chapter, Michael Ogungbemi, the shooting was condemned describing it as callous, while alleging that some people were hiding under it to destroy what Yoruba stood for.
In the statement titled, ‘The wanton killings, destruction must stop; those planning to destroy Yoruba will fail,’ politicians were cautioned “to refrain from stoking the embers of crisis in Lagos.
They demanded that the carnage and wanton destruction stop while stating that Yoruba won’t fold their arms and allow the destruction of their fatherland and inheritance.
