Against the Federal High Court ruling, voters in Rivers state turned out en masse to exercise their franchise at the ongoing local government elections in the state.
The court ruling which called for the suspension of the election and withdrawal of the Nigerian Police Force had stirred tension in Rivers.
This, however, failed to restrain residents as they appeared across the state’s 23 LGAs to cast their votes.
As monitored, there has been no report of violence in any of the local governments.
In a post on X, some voters defiled the rain to to cast their votes.
Meanwhile, some polling units were disrupted by “no election” protesters who called for the declaration of the protest as null and void.
