Some looters in Ilorin have decided to return stolen items to the mosque after an Islamic preacher urged them to wait for God's blessings.
According to a military media strategist and consultant, Deji Adesogan, the Imam, whose identity is still concealed, in the Zango area of Ilorin, the capital of Kwara, asked the looters to return all stolen items.
Adesogan said, "An Imam (name withheld) in Zango area of #Ilorin reportedly asked people to return all the looted items & wait for Allah's blessings & they complied. Religious & Traditional Leaders have key role to play in the much needed peaceful coexistence in #Nigeria."
The picture attached to the tweet shows a significant level of compliance.
The looters returned mattresses, plastics, refrigerators, cooking utensils among other items to the mosque.
Some residents, mostly youths, of Ilorin had on Friday looted some locations of the state capital including warehouses and the shopping mall housing Shoprite, Domino's, KFC, Hairsense salon, Viva Cinemas among other brands.
The situation led to the state government declaring a curfew and putting out a statement that it never hoarded any palliatives.
