Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State on Friday named the newly reconstructed Airport Road in Ibadan the state capital, after a former Governor, Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo.
Present at the ceremony was Olunloyo himself who served as the Governor of the old Oyo between 1983 to 1984 before the military take over.
Makinde, while naming the 3.6kilometre after Olunloyo, said his administration would continue to recognise the efforts of those who had served the state in the past adding “Their labour will not be forgotten”
While speaking, Olunloyo thanked Makinde saying “I am flaggerbasted by this honour given me . I never knew anything like this was in store for me. I never knew I would have this honour in my lifetime. I thank Governor Makinde.”
Olunloyo said he had a near death experience last year saying that the Governor had helped a lot
“Yesterday my consultant called me to say I am cat with nine lives,” Olunloyo said
