The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has appointed Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo State as the Chairman of the party’s Electoral Committee for Anambra Ward Congresses.
The party disclosed this in a statement by its National Organising Secretary, Umar Bature, in Abuja on Friday.
The party said that the committee was to elect new Ward Executive Committees and three-man ad-hoc Ward Delegates to the State Congress.
Other nominations approved to serve in the committee, according to the party, were Mohammed Ashiru as Secretary; while Sen. Abdul Ningi, Sen. Atai Idoko, Ms. Mildred Ekhator, are to serve as members.
The exercise is scheduled to hold on Saturday, Feb 19, in all the 326 Wards of the state.
“In the same vein, the NWC has approved the appointment of 63 Electoral Officers whose sole responsibility shall be to conduct the Ward Congresses in their assigned Local Government Areas.
“This is to ensure transparency and strict compliance with the rules and regulations guiding the conduct of Ward Congresses,” the statement said.
The party advised all aspirants, leaders and critical stakeholders of the party in the State to take note.
