A 24-year-old man, Animashaun Abiodun, has, on Monday, appeared before an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun over alleged theft of aluminium feeder and other valuables worth N750,000 from a farm.
Abiodun, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-charge of burglary and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp E. O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on the 10th of September 2024, at Daniel Estate Farm, Ijoko, Ota, Ogun.
According to Adaraloye, the defendant allegedly broke into a farm belonging to the complainant, Daniel Taiwo, and stole aluminium feeder, air conditioner parts and other valuables worth N750,000.
The prosecutor said that the case was reported at Sango Police Station, while the defendant was arrested in Abeokuta after escaping from the farm.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 390 and 413 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Mrs O. O. Fadairo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N3 million with three sureties in like sum.
Fadairo said that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to Ogun Government.
The case was adjourned until Jan. 25 for further hearing.
