Manchester United has sacked head coach, Erik Ten Hag following 2-1 defeat to West Ham on Sunday.
The English Premier League side announced the axing of the Dutch manager in a club statement issued on Monday after two-years of frustrating spell.
While wishing him well for the future, the Red Devils disclosed that former player and assistant coach to the Dutch manager, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, will take charge of the team as interim coach.
“Erik ten Hag has left his role as Manchester United men’s first-team manager.
“Erik was appointed in April 2022 and led the club to two domestic trophies, winning the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.
“We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future.
“Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited.” the statement read.
Erik Ten Hag was unveiled as new Man United’s coach on the 22nd of April 2022.
He was tipped to bring back the old glory of the Red Devils, but the job has been marred with disappointing results and poor performances.
Following yesterday’s defeat to West Ham, the former Ajax manager leaves Man United sitting 14th place on the league table with 11 points out of nine games.
