Says He Gained Nothing for His Efforts for Ruling Party
- Safiu Kehinde
Nigerian comedian and entertainer, Usman Taye, popularly known as Angelbabarobo, has warned activist and former leader of Yoruba nation secessionist group, Sunday Igboho over his threat against opposition parties.
This is coming under the heels of Igboho’s declaration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the only recognised party in the Southwest, warning other opposition parties against campaigning in the region.
Reacting to the ex-secessionist leader’s statement, Usman in a video shared on his Instagram handle on Thursday charged Igboho to retract his threat.
The entertainer who worked for the APC during the 2023 General Election campaign slammed the ruling party.
Recalling the viral video of him dancing during the campaign, Usman claimed that he gained nothing despite his efforts for the party.
“Politics in APC is very powerful. We’ve worked for them on several occasions. We danced, campaigned, and did everything. Still, we no see anything.
“It another season of politics. But it is those who are not entitled that you are paying attention to now. They are the ones you are inviting.
“Those who won’t campaign for you are the ones you are embracing. Let me tell you something. Chief Sunday Igboho who came out and threatened that he doesn’t want to see any other party aside the APC, it is a lie.
“We did more than you Chief Sunday Igboho. We made efforts more than you. Yet we didn’t see anything.
“You thought it’s because they returned you from exile now you are in control? There is nothing of such.” He said.
While recalling how he supported Igboho during his Yoruba Nation agitation, Usman also recounted his ordeal following his campaign for APC.
He disclosed being sidelined with event organisers refusing to pay him after performing at outings as they claimed he had been paid by the APC.
“When you were clamouring for Yoruba nation, we were the ones behinde you. The end product of the Yoruba nation is you canvassing for votes for the APC which is not possible because they didn’t do well for us.
“I struggled for the APC to a point that there is politician that will deny seeing my dance video.
“I suffered for you and whenever I go for show to perform, they will say APC has given me money so they won’t give me anything.
“If I danced and performed all day long, they will insist that APC has paid me. If not for my wife who endured, we would have divorced by now.” Usman said.
The comedian reiterated his warning against Igboho as he threatened to reveal a lot of secrets about the ruling party.
“What did you do for us that was special? Now Chief Sunday Igboho is coming out to say he doesn’t want to see any other party.
“Don’t say that again. If I’m too go deeper in this talk, I will destroy many good works. Another video is still coming were I will reveal a lot.” He said.
