The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) has continued its mass raid on beggars across the state with over 15 suspects arrested on Friday.
This was disclosed in a post shared on Instagram by the Lagos Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab.
According to Wahab, the beggars were arrested during the raid carried out along Ikosi-Ketu and Mile 12 area of the state.
The Commissioner described the raid as part of the ongoing effort in maintaining order, ensuring safety, and protecting public space.
He vowed to continue the enforcement of the raid while working with social welfare agencies for rehabilitation of the arrested beggars.
“Fifteen street beggars were apprehended this morning during our enforcement operations at Ikosi Ketu and Mile 12.
“This is part of our ongoing effort to maintain order, ensure safety, and protect public spaces from misuse.
“We will continue to enforce the law while working with the appropriate social welfare agencies to ensure rehabilitation where necessary.
“Lagos must remain safe, clean, and orderly for all who live and work here. Our resolve remains firm.” He wrote.
