Supporters of two major presidential candidates on Saturday tested their popularities in both Lagos and PortHarcourt Rivers state on Saturday as they trooped out for mass rallies.
While supporters of the All Progressive Congress candidate Bola Tinubu moved from streets to streets in their thousands, those of the candidate of the Labour Party Mr. Peter Obi appearing to be more than 10,000, moved around enmasse within the PortHarcourt metropolitan areas.
They gathered at the Eleme junction axis of Aba Road, singing Obi’s praises.
The supporters, who tagged their rally “Two Million-man March for Obi”, adorned themselves in white shirts with fez caps and marched through to the stretch of Ikwerre road before terminating their trek at the Isaac Adaka Boro Park.
The march caused a gridlock with many motorists diverting to other routes.
The supporters mainly youths sang, ‘Obi, Obi, Obi’ and danced all through.
In spite of the heavy rains that threatened to disrupt the rally, the supporters turned the situation to a carnival-like scenario.
In Lagos the supporters of Tinubu, most of who also wore T-shirts and fez caps baring images of the APC presidential candidates moved from Alausa towards Ikeka, via Toyin streets and Allen. They were praising Tinubu for the dream to turn Lagos to what it is today when he took over its governance in 1999.
