A joint operation of men of the Nigerian Police and the Army on Monday led to the seizure of hundreds of commercial motorcyles popularly called ‘okada’ in Lagos.
Task Force officials including operatives of the Ministry of Transport, Nigerian Police Force, the Nigerian Army, Federal Roads Safety Corps had led to arrest of many of the operators whose bikes were impounded and driven to the headquarters.
Confirming the development, Command spokesman of the police, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the Commissioner of Police Ayoade, assured that the exercise would continue until the state is rid of the bikes.
“The military, in the spirit of synergy and harmony, deployed their officers to be part of the enforcement. “In addition to providing support, the military officers were on ground to apprehend military offenders in a rancour-free manner,” Hundeyin said.
