The Bishop of Diocese of Lagos West, Methodist Church Nigeria (MCN), Rt. Rev. Oluyinka Akande, has extolled the virtues of the first Prelate of the church, the late Dr Sunday Mbang.
In a statement, Akande said that Mbang served his Maker with everything in him.
“He was fearless, always ready to tell people the truth, most especially people in power.
“The church and the nation will greatly miss him,” Akande said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that MCN announced Mbang’s death on Wednesday.
Mbang, also a former President of the Christian Association of Nigeria , was aged 85 years.
CAN had also in a statement said that Mbang was a courageous and faithful leader.
“We celebrate the life of one of the most forthright and courageous faith leaders of our time who meant well for his country, Nigeria; thus, dedicated his life to the service of God and humanity.
“His commitment to the gospel of Christ and his unwavering dedication to the unity of all Nigerians irrespective of our diverse reality as a people will always be remembered as a shining example to follow.
“May his soul rest in peace,” CAN said in the statement by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh.
