A former Central Bank of Nigeria’s Deputy Governor, Kingsley Moghalu, has been defeated by the founder of Roots Television, Dumebi Kachikwu in the race for the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress.
Kachikwu is the founder of Roots Television.
Kachikwu is also the younger brother of Nigeria’s former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibe Kachikwu.
He scored 977 votes to defeat other eight aspirants for the ticket.
Moghalu came second with 589 votes while Monye came third with 339 votes.
“I am here to offer myself to you not because I am better than anybody here, but because I care about the future of our country.
“I offer myself because God has given me the main recognition to stand side-by-side with Atiku, Tinubu and to send them into retirement,” he said at the event.
Moghalu has been a major face in the commentaries over the affairs of Nigeria.
He was the Young Progressive Party’s presidential candidate in 2019, scoring 21,886 votes in the general election.
