Popular Ibadan-based radio presenter and CEO of Agidigbo FM, Oriyomi Hamzat, has apologised to Nigerian singer Naira Marley for calling out the singer over his alleged involvement in the death of his late former signee, Ifeoluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.
Hamzat also lifted his two years ban on all music released by the Marlian Records from being played in his radio station.
The renown media personality made the announcement in a video shared on X on Tuesday.
As captured in the video, Hamzat who spoke in Yoruba formally apologised for all he had said against Naira Marley over the death of Mohbad while playing Tesumole, one of Naira Marley’s popular songs, in affirmation of an end to the ban on his music.
“Don’t be annoyed with all I’ve said against you. From today in Agidigbo FM, we can start playing every song released by Naira Marley.” Hamzat declared on his popular special programme, Alabaro.
Attached to the video was a clip of where the Agidigbo FM founder banned the station from playing Naira Marley’s songs few days after the death of Mohbad in September 2023.
While Hamzat had not directly accused the singer of being responsible for Mohbad’s death in the clip, he however called for justice as he announced the ban on Marlian Record.
“Every song released by Marlian Records become a taboo on Agidigbo FM. We are not saying they are responsible for his death, but all their songs are banned from this station. We are saddened by Mohbad’s death. I imagine the boy keeps growing. What a pity. Justice for Mohbad.” He had said.
Recall that Mohbad had tragically passed away on 12th of September 2023.
While the circumstances surrounding his death largely remain unsettled, Naira Marley and his ally, Sam Larry, were accused of Mohbad’s death on account of their assault and threat on the late singer before his demise.
The duo was, alongside Feyisayo Ogedengbe, the auxiliary nurse who treated Mohbad, and Ayobami Sadiq, one of the singer’s friends, arraigned to court.
However, the magistrate court in Yaba would in February 2025 dismiss all charges against Marley and Sammy Larry over their alleged involvement in Mohbad’s death.
