Another heavy traffic gridlock has on Wednesday morning left several motorists stranded in Lagos as a 40-feet container damages advert board on the popular Lekki-Ikoyi link bridge.
The incident had led to the blockage of the bridge and the inbound Ikoyi lane.
As confirmed in a post shared on X by the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the 40-feet container laden truck crashed into the height barrier along the bridge, damaging it in the process.
LASTMA urged road users to exercise patience as effort is ongoing to remove the damaged barrier.
“Lekki link bridge to Alexandra roundabout is temporarily cordoned off, this is due to the Barrier that was damaged by a Containerized truck.
“Effort is currently ongoing to remove the Damaged Barrier.
“Our officials are all well positioned for effective traffic control.
“Patience is required from the road users,” the wrote.
Motorists have, however, been advised to take alternative routes as an X user claimed a crane or HD crane or a HD Hiab will be required first to clear the height barrier before the trailer can be recovered.
The broken part of the height barrier is reportedly wedged in-between the container and the trailer head which made it impossible to tow without clearing damaged barrier first.
