A retired diplomat, Joe Keshi, on Friday said Nigeria cannot stop helping other African nations.
This is coming in the wake of the N1.15bn vehicles donated to the Niger Republic by the Nigerian government.
Ambassador Keshi appeared on the Morning Show on Arise TV this Friday morning.
According to the Ambassador ‘’Nations of the world help each other in many ways. Nigeria cannot stop offering help to other nations because we are in a position to do so. The nations of the world also help Nigeria in many ways, they help in terms of aids, vaccines, name it.’’
When asked if the government has been transparent with the process, he said ‘’We need to be told why these donations were made, what kind of cars were provided. I am sure the Minister of Finance already talked about that but the Nigerian public is getting enlightened by the day, you don’t think they won’t criticize the government. The government should come out to tell Nigerians they are doing this at this time, they need to come out to provide us with the information. It is left for the government to come out to tell us why this particular help has been given at this point in time’’.
The Buhari administration has come under fire for spending the sum of N1.15bn to procure vehicles for the Niger government.
