Former Member of the Supreme Military Council under the Muritala Mohammed Regime and one of the leaders of the National Coalition for Democracy NADECO, Comodore Dan Suleiman has called Nigerians to shun other interests and vote the most competent person as next President.
Dan Suleman who spoke at a session of North-East Stakeholders of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council at the Merit House Abuja on Monday.
Suleman said for many years that Northern political elites have been at the helm of affairs but have ended up further impoverishing their people.
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, while speaking, wondered why the All Progressive Congress has not sacked him as a member.
He said as a member of the APC’s Board of Trustees, he considers it necessary for the party to have edged him out since he declared his support for Peter Obi.
Recall that Lawal was a close confidant of the candidate of the APC, Bola Tinubu.
“What are they waiting for?’ he told the gathering at the Merit House, Abuja where the stakeholders session held.
Obi while speaking, said it is wrong for people to conclude he does not spend money on political campaigns.
“People say we don’t give people ‘shishi’. It is not true. But I want to use your money for your good. I want to use it to educate your children and give them opportunities.
“I don’t want to steal your money. That’s not what I am doing because it is wrong. Rather, I want to be part of you and your children,” Obi said.
The former Anambra State governor also said he is committed to the Northeast, adding that he is not going to be President from Abuja.
“I am going to be your President from the Northeast. There’s no way I will not tour every single state of Nigeria. I’ll be everywhere,” he said.
National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, said it is a must that the party wins the next general elections.
