The Nigerian Air Force has broken silence over the clash between its personnel and officials of the Nigerian Police Force in Warri, Delta state.
The incident which occured on Tuesday and captured in viral video on social media saw a group Air Force personnel engaged in public brawl with the Police officers.
Reacting in a statement issued on Thursday by its Director of Public Relations and Information, AVM Olusola Fakinboyewa, NAF disclosed that the incident is currently being addressed by the Force as the Commander of the Unit, where the personnel are attached to, had engaged the Police Force for resolution.
Fakinboyewa further disclosed that the erring personnel have been identified and are undergoing disciplinary procedures in accordance with military regulations.
He reaffirmed the Force’s committment to maintaining the highest standards of conduct and fostering harmonious relationships with sister agencies
The statement partly read; “The attention of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has been drawn to a video circulating on social and other media, depicting an altercation between some NAF personnel and police officers in Warri, Delta State, on Tuesday, 11 February 2025.
“The NAF wishes to state that the incident has been decisively addressed. The Commander of the concerned NAF unit has engaged with the relevant Police authorities in Delta State, to resolve the matter with a view to enhancing inter-agency understanding.
“Moreover, the injured Police officers have received the necessary medical attention, while the NAF personnel involved are currently undergoing disciplinary procedures in accordance with military regulations.
“As a professional and disciplined force, the NAF remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of conduct and fostering harmonious relationships with sister agencies in the collective pursuit of national security and public safety.
“Accordingly, appropriate measures are being taken to prevent any recurrence of such incidents as recently witnessed in Warri, whilst the continued support and understanding of the public is highly appreciated.”
