The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NAFDAC) has bursted an illegal sachet water in Lagos.
This was disclosed in a statement issued by the agency on Tuesday.
According to the statement, the factory, located at No. 89 Marine Road, Oluwole Market Waterside, was discovered during an operation by NAFDAC’s Investigation & Enforcement Directorate.
Over 2,500 bags of water were confiscated with the factory shutdown by the agency.
In a video attached to the statement, a NDLEA official narrated how the products were transported by canoe from the slum where the factory is located.
Meanwhile, NDLEA discovered that the address of the factory is different from the one printed on the sachet which further proved the illegality status of the factory.
The statement read in part; “NAFDAC recently shut down an illegal water factory in Apapa, where counterfeited, adulterated, and unhygienic sachet water was being produced.

“The factory, located at No. 89 Marine Road, Oluwole Market Waterside, was discovered during an operation by NAFDAC’s Investigation & Enforcement Directorate.
“The factory’s address was entirely different from the one on the already produced counterfeited sachet water brands.
“The operation revealed that thousands of bags of counterfeit sachet water, produced in a filthy environment beside a dirty canal, were ready for distribution.
“During the raid, over 2,500 bags of sachet water were confiscated and the remaining stock was destroyed on-site.
“The illegal factory was sealed, and all production equipment was dismantled and evacuated. NAFDAC has estimated the street value of the seized water to be over ₦1 million.
“NAFDAC urges the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to the nearest NAFDAC office.”
