Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen, has been excluded from Napoli’s squad for the 2024/2025 Serie A season with his shirt number given to new signing, Romelu Lukaku.
Having fallen out of favour with the club management, Osimhen was poised to leave during the summer transfer window.
He was on the verge of joining Chelsea who showed keen interest in the Nigerian international and even sent delegates to strike a deadline deal before the transfer window closed yesterday.
However, a mouthwatering deal offer from Saudi Arabian club, Al-Ahli, jeopardized his move to England.
The Nigerian forward failed to get out of Napoli before the summer transfer window closed on Friday as his reported move to Saudi Pro League club Al-Ahli collapsed at the last moment on the deadline day after the Italian side demanded an extra €5million (£4m/$5.5m) on top of the €80m (£67m/$88m) that was offered, according to Sky Sports in Italy.
With Chelsea withdrawing its delegate few hours to the transfer deadline and Al-Alhi signing England striker, Ivan Toney, from Brentford, Osimhen is left in limbo and he is now stuck to an undecided future in Napoli.
