The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has summoned Nigerian musician, Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, over claim of sleeping with a minor.
NPO Reported that the controversial singer had on Tuesday raised public eyebrow during a livestream session where he allegedly confessed having sexual affair with a 15-year-old girl.
As captured in a viral video clip from the livestream, the singer described his sexual encounter involving the minor that left bed sheets stained with blood.
He claimed to have paid hotel staff N2,000 to change the sheets.
“Before they could come change the sheets for me, I had to give N2,000. Because the thing is somehow, to tell an adult to come and clean blood that I brought out of the body of a 15-year-old girl. I can never work for anybody, lai lai. I only work for myself.” The singer had said.
Having drawn the attention of the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA), the agency transferred the case to NAPTIP who in a statement issued on Thursday officially summoned Darlington.
NAPTIP held that the action if confirmed, violated the 2015 Trafficking in Persons(Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act and the Cybercrime Act.
The agency ordered the singer to present himself before its Abuja headquarters on Saturday.
He was also advised to come with his lawyers and other necessary documents.
