Petition Now Signed by Constituents

Lawmaker representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has again petitioned the Senate, accusing the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, of sexual harassment and misuse of office.
Natasha tendered the petition, which she claimed was filed by her constituent, before the Red Chamber during the plenary session on Thursday.
This is coming hours after the Senate’s rejection of her initial petition filed yesterday.
The Senate had, in a heated argument dismissed the petition, noting that the case is in court and the petition was solely signed by her which is against the order of the Senate.
Representing the petition, the Kogi lawmaker stated that the case had not been in court and the petition was issued by a member of her constituency.
“I have a petition before me by a Nigerian citizen and a constituent of Kogi Central named Subairu Hassan Yakubu.
“And the petition is against the President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, for sexual harassment and abuse of office and malicious obstruction of legislative functions of distinguished Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.” she said
“Is there any legal impediment?” Akpabio asked.
“On the subject matter, none Sir” Natasha replied.
“Please proceed to lay the petition since you said there is no legal impediment,
“Distinguished colleagues, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has a petition from her constituent, and she has also further confirmed before all Senators that the matter is not in any court of law. Accordingly, this petition is referred to committee on ethics, moral conduct, and public petition. To refer to the Senate in four weeks.” the Senate President said.
