The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has unveiled its digital stamp and seal to verify court documents in the country.
The President of the NBA, Yakubu Maikyau, made the disclosure at the groundbreaking event in Abuja.
He stated that the association is prioritizing the digitalization process in all its operations to make the tasks of lawyers easier.
“Everyone is going digital, and the Nigerian Bar Association cannot be left behind; that’s why we’re engaging in this project,” he said.
In the same vein, he announced that the association will utilize the digitalization process for the registration of the upcoming annual general meeting (AGM). “We will ensure that we deliver the best for the country. We will also enjoin INEC to take a cue and learn how to utilize online voting to improve the country’s affairs,” Maikyau assured.
He assured lawyers that the new seal is a testament to his administration’s quest for growth and development in the judiciary sector.
Ope Olugasa, Managing Director of Law Pavillion Business Solutions, said the digital seal is designed to fast-track the work of lawyers.
He noted that the filing procedure for lawyers has been rigorous, involving typing, setting, scanning, and arranging documents, but this new innovation through digital seal is quite effective.
Olugasa disclosed that the digital seal utilizes blockchain technology and can also be used for administrative purposes. “It has a verification system to ensure that any document signed by a lawyer can be verified by the court system or any individual.”
