Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported 39 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 167,142.
The NCDC disclosed this on its official Twitter handle on Thursday night.
The agency stated that the 39 new cases were reported from six states in the country.
“On the 17th of June 2021, 39 new confirmed cases were recorded in Nigeria.
“Till date, 167142 cases have been confirmed, 163535 cases have been discharged and 2117 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
“The 39 new cases are reported from 6 states- Lagos (34), Ebonyi (1), Ekiti (1), FCT (1), Jigawa (1), Rivers (1).
“A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 2, continues to coordinate the national response activities,” it stated.
According to the NCDC, since the disease was first reported on Feb. 27, 2020, a total of 2,117 people have succumbed to it while 163,535 patients have recovered from it.
The NCDC, however, said 1,490 cases were still active in the country.
It stated that the country had tested 2,231,409 people since the beginning of the pandemic on Feb. 27, 2020.
The public health institute also said yesterday's report includes 0 cases reported from Imo, Kaduna, Kano, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Plateau, and Sokoto States.
