Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has reported 51 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 167,206.
The NCDC disclosed this on its official Twitter handle on Saturday night.
The agency stated that the 51 new cases were reported from five states in the country.
“On the 19th of June 2021, 51 new confirmed cases were recorded in Nigeria.
“167,206 cases have been confirmed, 163,550 cases have been discharged and 2117 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
“The 51 new cases are reported from 5 states- Lagos-41, Rivers-five, Gombe-three, FCT-one and Akwa Ibom-one
“A multi-sectoral national emergency operations centre (EOC), activated at Level 2, continues to coordinate the national response activities,” it stated.
According to the NCDC, since the disease was first reported on Feb. 27, 2020, a total of 2,117 people have succumbed to it while 163,550 patients have recovered from it.
The NCDC, however, said 1,498 cases were still active in the country.
It stated that the country had tested 2,231,409 people since the beginning of the pandemic on Feb. 27, 2020.
The public health institute also said yesterday's report includes 0 cases reported from Plateau, Imo, and Bauchi States.
