The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has explained why it is yet to inaugurate its Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).
The party said its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, have been working with the national leadership on the structure of the campaign council.
This is expected to be inaugurated once the remaining consultations are concluded.
According to the NDC, the PCC was initially scheduled to be inaugurated in the first week of September but the process was postponed due to Obi’s travel schedule.
The party said it had already developed a proposed organogram for the campaign structure in August and made it available to Obi and Kwankwaso for their input while nominations had also been received from stakeholders across the country.
Under the proposed arrangement, the presidential and vice-presidential candidates will nominate several key officials of the campaign council in consultation with the party.

Those positions include the Director-General, Deputy Director-General for the North, spokesperson, deputy spokesperson, Head of New Media, Finance Director and Deputy Finance Director.
The NDC said the party leadership had given the candidates the freedom to make the nominations, stressing that the final structure would be announced and inaugurated after their inputs had been received.
The party said funds raised for the campaign would be paid into the presidential campaign account and managed by officials nominated by the candidates alongside the National Treasurer.
It said the arrangement was intended to promote transparency and accountability, particularly because the party would be required to submit its campaign financial records to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in line with the Electoral Act.
The NDC also appealed to its candidates and supporters to avoid internal disputes and concentrate on the 2027 elections.
“There are no battles to fight within the NDC. The common opponent to defeat is the ruling APC,” the party said.
The party urged its candidates and their support groups to remain focused on the elections, stressing that its candidates are contesting under the NDC platform and not as independent candidates.
