The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has nabbed a 50-year-old widow and fashion designer, Mrs. Ifeoma Henrietta Ezewuike, over alleged attempt to traffic 1.3 kilograms of cocaine concealed under fake pregnancy.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by the agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi.
According to Babafemi, Ezewuike, the proprietress of Golden Star Creation, a fashion outfit in the Okota area of Lagos, was apprehended on Friday at a bus terminal in Jibowu, Yaba, while attempting to deliver the illicit consignment to customers in Abuja.
A follow-up operation at her residence along Ago Palace Way, Okota, led to the recovery of 200 grams of a cutting agent used in processing cocaine.
In her statement to investigators, the mother of one claimed she inherited the drug trade from her late husband, who died two years ago, despite running her fashion business for more than 20 years.
In a similar development, no fewer than 90 parcels of Loud were intercepted at a courier company in Lagos.
The strain of cannabis weighing 48.6kg, imported from the United States of America and concealed in three cartons of kitchen sink was discovered in the courier company last week Tuesday by NDLEA officers of the Directorate of Operation and General Investigation (DOGI).
