The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA has explained the circumstances that led to the death of two persons in the Mushin area of Lagos.
NDLEA spokesman, Femi Babafemi, while responding to inquiry from the NPO Reports on Thursday said officials had come under heavy gun attacks when they visited the area Wednesday night to arrest a drug baron. He did not offer more details on the baron. Babafemi however said that the baron was responsible for the shipment of many drugs from Ghana into Nigeria.
He explained, “Our men on Wednesday night went to Mushin to arrest the Baron behind shipments of drugs that have been coming from Ghana. “After the arrest of some of the wanted suspects and recovery of drugs and their vehicles, our men came under attack from their boys who had locked all the exit gates in the community and our officers had to defend themselves to come out of the area alive.” NPO Reported earlier that two persons died of bullet wounds after officials of the agency raided drugs hideout.
