The new governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo and his deputy, Dr. Gilber Ibezim have been sworn in today.
Soludo was sworn in at exactly 9:48am while his deputy was sworn in at about 9: 38am.
At a simple ceremony held at the Government House, Soludo was spotted in a while short top on a black trouser .
The event was devoid of extravagance.
Shortly after the swearing ceremony, the former Governor, Willie Obiano, was seen out of the Government House.
The new governor later inspected a guard of honour mounted by the security agencies.
In his speech, Soludo explained why against tradition, the event was slated to be low-key. He said there is work to be done adding that he reported for work at 8;30pm
Soludo said his decision to go for locally made goods such as his Innoson official vehicle, his ,locally made shoes and dress, he is making a statement.
While said the swearing in was devoid of celebration, he said the people of the state have celebrated enough after his emergence adding that now is the time for work.
He however said that people of the state would have plenty time for celebrations only after insecurity has been defeated and all children of school ages are in school.
He said his government would bring hopes and confidence of the people.
Soludo announced the suspension of all revenue collections in the state for one month and outlawed all cash payments to Anambra government in Motor Parks, roads or anywhere.
He emphasised the need for peace and called on youths, politicians and agitators to embrace dialogue as that was the only panacea for peace.
