Niger State governor, Mohammed Umaru-Bago, has mourned victims of the petrol tanker explosion at Dikko junction on the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.
Umaru-Bago, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, described the incident which occured on Saturday as unfortunate.
NPO reported that the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) confirmed the death of 50 people who were engulfed in flames while scooping fuel from the petrol tanker.
Further describing the the incident as worrisome, Umaru-Bago sympathised with the families of the victims and prayed Allah to repose the souls of the departed and heal the injured.
The governor , however, advised the people to always behave responsibly and prioritise their safety.
He directed relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies to do what was necessary to assist the families of the dead and provide care for the injured.
